Statement Jewellery

I’m totally loving all of the statement jewellery that’s around at the moment. There are some really striking pieces available for anyone whether they are on a tight budget or have a bit more cash to spend!

Forever 21 has some fabulous necklaces at the moment – these are just a pick of some of my favourites! (You can check out their full range here http://www.forever21.com/UK/Product/Category.aspx?br=f21&category=acc )

One particular statement piece I’m really into at the moment are Peter Pan Collars. They seem to have the power to make every outfit simultaneously glamorous and cute. I like to think of them as a way of being like the Lost Boys and never growing up -they just look fun, cute and quirky!

I really like the idea of the detachable collars so that you can wear them with any outfit and I’ve seen a lot of posts online about how to make your own Peter Pan Collar (but I’ve not tried it yet). I’ve put some images below to show you all how varied they can be…

http://www.dollybowbow.co.uk/39-146-thickbox_default/peter-pan-collar-necklace-multi.jpgThis first one is from a site I’ve found called Dolly Bow Bow – which has some really fun and unique pieces – you should definitely go take a look if your after something a bit quirky! http://www.dollybowbow.co.uk/

This next one is one I’ve found on Etsy – and I’m disappointed that its in the USA as I really love it! https://www.etsy.com/listing/95699908/layered-peter-pan-collar-necklace-gold?ref=related-2

Finally is this one… which I really love! http://www.polyvore.com/peter_pan_collar_necklace_earring/thing?id=65122335

Peter Pan Collar Necklace and Earring Set $24.00

So will any of you choose to make a statement this spring? Has anyone gone all DIY and made their own? I’d love to hear about your thoughts on statement jewellery and see any pictures of your favourite pieces.

As always, thanks for reading, C xx

Cream Of The Crop

So we’ve actually had a bit of sunshine here in the UK already – and although its gone back to being a bit chilly again I’m feeling inspired for the summer!

I’m hoping to get a little tan (even if its out of a bottle) and what better way to show off a tan than with some cream or white clothing. I’ve selected some of my favourite pieces below.

Topshop have some AMAZING pieces at the moment;

The first is this little white dress which I personally think is fabulous and it reminds me a little of the Chanel dress Keira Knightley wore recently. The waistband is bang on trend at the moment and I think you could team it with some black accessories for a real standout outfit. http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/dresses-442/60s-lace-shift-dress-2710010?refinements=Colour%7b1%7d~%5bcream%7cwhite%5d&bi=1&ps=200

The next of my selections is this GORGEOUS jumpsuit with a gold embellished edging around the top it just screams simple elegance. I reckon you could team this with some simple gold heels, statement earrings and a small clutch and look totally amazing. http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/dresses-442/jumpsuit-by-tfnc-2702098?refinements=Colour%7b1%7d~%5bcream%7cwhite%5d&bi=1&ps=200

My final Topshop selection is this cute 1920’s inspired vest. If you didn’t want to go all white you could pair this up with some skinny jeans and be ready for anything! http://media.topshop.com/wcsstore/TopShop/images/catalog/62E16FCRM_large.jpg

My next selection is from Warehouse and its a bit different… the first time I saw it I wasn’t sure but its kind of growing on me – its definitely quirky! I think its got a 1960’s vibe to it which I love and I think if the rest of your outfit was quite simple it could really work. What do you think? http://www.warehouse.co.uk///warehouse/fcp-product/315752#GBP

However if you fancied more a bohemian look then what about this beautiful kimono from River Island – I can picture this with some denim shorts, a plain vest top, gladiator sandals and aviators for that perfect summer festival look (although maybe wellies would be more suitable!)  http://www.riverisland.com/women/tops/kimonos/Cream-floral-tassel-trim-kimono-650038

And last but not least (and for those of us who are brave enough) how about these stylish tailored white trousers from Mango – I love the side splits on the hems! http://shop.mango.com/GB/p0/mango/new/textured-trousers/?id=21065544_OW&n=1&s=nuevo&ident=0__0_1395492686343&ts=1395492686343

Textured trousers

So there you have it – my pick of ‘all things white and beautiful’!!!

My personal favourites are the Topshop dress and jumpsuit, and I’d love to hear your opinions.

Thanks for reading, C xx

P.S. Just remember folks that whatever happens, it will be all-white on the night! (Sorry – I couldn’t resist another pun!)

Perfectly Pretty Pastels

I am totally in love with Lupita Nyong’o and her dress at the Oscar’s did not disappoint! In fact I love it so much I have decided to create a whole post on perfectly pretty pastels. I mean look at her; absolutely stunning!

For me pastels represent all things spring and summer, and after the long wet winter we have had here in the UK anything that inspires thoughts of Spring is very much welcome!

So here are a few of my favourite picks to softly brighten up everyday!

Topshop: Textured Bubble Crepe Tee £32.00 http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/tops-443/textured-bubble-crepe-tee-2576114?refinements=Colour%7b1%7d~%5bpink%5d&bi=1&ps=200

This pretty little top could be teamed with pretty much anything! The first look that sprang to my mind was to to match it up with a highwaisted pencil skirt and a sexy pair of heels, but I think you could wear it casual with a great pair of denim jeans. However I love the impact this matching skirt has on it – afterall you can never have too much of a good thing!

River Island: V Neck Shift Dress £25.00 http://www.riverisland.com/women/dresses/shift-dresses/Blue-Chelsea-Girl-V-neck-shift-dress-654080

Or what about this simple V neck dress; in a stunning pale blue colour its could be glammed up with some statement jewellery and heels or kept casual with some flats. I think I’d feel like I’d stolen just a small amount of Lupita’s style in this colour!

Or what about a pastel pair of jeans – New Look have every pastel colour imaginable available and at £19.99 they are an absolute bargain! New Look: Skinny Jean £19.99 http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/jeans/lilac-skinny-jeans_300710555?isRecent=true

Lilac (Purple) Lilac Skinny Jeans | 300710555 | New Look

Team with another pastel coloured top for a complete ‘sweet as candy’ look or team with white to keep it simple!

But if all out pastels aren’t your thing then maybe you could try some pastel accessories like this selection of goodies available from Forever 21: http://www.forever21.com/UK/Product/Category.aspx?br=f21&category=Promo_Shoes_bags-lookbook_02pastel

I’d love to know your thoughts on pastels; what you’ve purchased, what you’ve got on your wish list and most of all; how much do you love Lupita’s dress?

Access(ories) All Areas!

So a few days ago I wore an outfit to work which I have worn more times than I care to count and suddenly everyone was complimenting me on it!

Weird right?

Well I was pondering over it when walking out of the office and I realised the only thing that was different was my accessories, well only my necklace really – but somehow this one necklace changed my whole outfit and made people notice it!

Now the necklace I was wearing wasn’t expensive in fact it was from New Look and cost less than £10! This is me wearing said necklace…

So I guess I kind of new already that accessories are an important part to any outfit, I just didn’t realise how much of a difference they can make! I’ve put a few more snaps below of my favourite accessories – everything from my notepad and pen to my lovely River Island leather gloves! (Excuse the quality of the pictures – my photography is not the best but I’m working on it!)

I’d love to know what you all think, what is your favourite accessory?

My Lovely Mum

I have been thinking about my style icons and I know that this might be a bit cheesy but my mum is my biggest style icon! Whenever I need style advice or help shopping for a perfect outfit (for any occasion) it’s my mum that I turn too for help. Let’s face it, no one else is either brave or honest enough to tell me that something doesn’t suit me!

My mum always knows exactly what I should wear for every event AND can pick out the right clothes to suit me every time. Its a special skill that she seems to have, infact I call her Gok Mum (for anyone that does know Gok Wan he used to do a programme on helping women to love themselves and could pick out the perfect outfit for each of them).

There is only one problem about shopping with my mum – I always end up spending too much money!

I would love to know who your biggest style icon is and who you choose to go shopping with,

Thanks for reading, C x

P.S. A couple of snaps below of me and my lovely mum taken at my hen party last year – one at the start of the night and one towards the end!
